A Day for Celebrating Cancer Survival

Pat yourself on the back… it’s National Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday, June 2.

Cancer Survivors Day demonstrates that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. It was first proclaimed 26 years ago on the first Sunday of June.

There are a lot of us…  about 2.5% of the Canadian population or 1 out of every 40 Canadians are cancer survivors. In 2009, 840,000 Canadians were alive and living with a cancer diagnosis in the last 10 years.*

And more people are joining us everyday. In Canada, an average of 21 people will be diagnosed with some type of cancer every hour of every day.
